Mission Statement

The purpose of the Jersey Urban Debate League (JUDL) is to provide the academic debate experience to urban students in the Greater-Newark Area. JUDL provides a thorough and efficient program of debater and coach education as well as encouraging classroom teachers of all disciplines to utilize debate as an effective instructional tool. We believe debate to be a transformative experience that empowers students to become thoughtful, productive and responsible citizens in a diverse and democratic society.
