Debating at the Ridge

December 15, 2009 - Ten Newark policy teams from 5 high schools competed in 5 debate rounds at the Ridge High School Invitational Tournament on Dec. 11 and 12. Technology, University, Science Park, East Side, and American History competed against schools like Lakeland, Monticello, and Edgemont from upstate New York. The top speakers included Devane Murphy from Science Park in 5th place and Shagun Kukreja from University in 6th place. The Science Park team of Christine Poveda & Devane Murphy and the University team of Shagun Kukreja and Rashawn Davis made it to quarter finals, while the University HS team of Amna Tariq and Omer Bhatti made it to Octo finals.
