Newark Invitational to bring over 300 students from 8 states

January 27, 2010 - This year the Newark Invitational will be held at two different schools based on division, due to the size of the tournament and to make it easier to manage. Therefore, the Lincoln-Douglas and Public Forum Division will be held at Science Park High School and the Policy Debate Division will be held at East Side High School.

Schools from Newark competing, include American History, Science Park, Technology, University, Newark Liberation, and Barringer High School.

"Over the past 28 years, the Newark Invitational Tournament has grown from a small one day event into a major Northeast tournament," Director Brent Farrand said. "This year we begin the process of growing it into a national tournament placed on the calendars of many school districts across the country."

The opening convocation for the tournament will begin at 4:30pm.

The general public is invited to observe. East Side High School 238 Van Buren St in Newark, NJ in the heart of the Ironbound about one mile away from Newark Penn Station.

An open field of 120 varsity and novice Lincoln Douglas and Public Forum debaters from 8 states
February 5: 5pm to 9pm
February 6 :8am to 6pm

Newark Invitational Policy Debate Division

An open field of 100 varsity and novice policy debate teams from 8 states
February 5: 5pm to 9pm
