Technology hosts first tournament of school year

Technology HS JUDL TournamentSeptember 30, 2010 - Technology High School hosted the first tournament of the school year on Sept. 24. Twenty-one novice teams from 5 schools debated for three rounds. Eight junior varsity teams also debated, but only for two rounds. Coming up on top with an undefeated record was the American History team of Carsell Harthorne & Chaz Wyche, followed by Newark Science teams Katherine Bonsu & Daisy Ogbonna and Saboor Khan & Sage Pineiro. Wyche took first place speaker with 85 out of 90 points.

New program administrator Militza Diaz opened the awards ceremony with a congratulations to the debaters. "Be proud of yourself for coming here on a Saturday when it's hot outside," she said. "I know this is cliche, but it doesn't matter if you win or lose, but what you learned."
